Puppies can attend the course one week from their
first vaccination on vets advice. The socialisation
of a puppy dips at about 12 weeks and then starts to
come to an end around 16 weeks. Pups must have off
lead socialisation with other puppies in order to
learn communication signals in a safe way, and to
learn that other dogs are fun.
Just introducing your puppy to a few adult dogs
during the socialisation period is not enough to
ensure a friendly adult dog. It is possible that an
adult dogs your pup meets may react in a domineering
or antisocial way to your puppy and this may
intimidate or frighten a new pup that is already
dealing with coming away from their litter mates and
mum.
Pups need to learn that other dogs are fun first.
